Since coming to Jackson, Sara has served as the Mayor of Jackson, started a consulting business, and recently formed the non-profit organization Becoming Jackson Whole. Becoming Jackson Whole’s mission is to make mindfulness second nature in Jackson.

She has served as a Teton County Commissioner and was on the Jackson town council for almost ten years. Currently, she is the Executive Director of the Teton Village Association.

Jim was born in Southern Lebanon, went to school in Beirut and made his way to the U.S. to study aeronautical engineering at the Northrop Institute. After working in the airline industry for one year in Lebanon he decided to come back to the U.S. and eventually landed in Jackson back in 1978.

Chris is known to some as Dr. Koch, known to others as The Cowboy or The Cowboy Chiropractor. Chris moved out to Wyoming from Wisconsin back in 1972. Originally Chris settled in Rock Springs to help open a Chiropractic office, but after 6 months, he decided to make Jackson his home. 

Episode 100 – Hitchhiking to a Century of Life: A Chat with 97 Year Old Jeanette “Moosie” Woodling

Moosie was born on Halloween in 1922. After being laid off from Goodyear Tire in Akron Ohio after work slowed because of the end of WWII, Jeanette decided she wanted to live and work in a national park. In 1950, Jeanette hopped on a train to start her journey out west to work at Old Faithful Lodge. 

Episode 96 – Bringing History Alive with Kenneth Thomasma

After 12 years of working at a summer camp in Montana, Ken fell in love with the mountains. In 1977, Ken and his wife decided to make them their home and left Michigan to move out to Jackson Hole. Moving out to Jackson gave Ken the time he needed to write his first book which was inspired by the story of Sacajawea’s friend, Naya Nuki.

Episode 94 – Not Yet A Local with Jim Rooks

Jim’s family lineage in Jackson Hole dates back to 1905 when Roy and Frank Van Vleck left Michigan and headed west. A year later in 1906, they formed the Jackson Mercantile in what is known as the clubhouse building on the town square. Even though Jim spent most of his life in Jackson, he was born in Casper, making him just a tourist in his kid’s eyes. According to their family, no one is a local unless they are born, died, or spent at least 75 years in Jackson.
