On our 200th episode, Stephan chats with Esther Judge-Lennox. Esther is the Founder of Shacks on Racks. Shacks on Racks helps connect homeowners thinking about removing a home or structure from their land with people who could make use of a relocated home or outbuilding on their own property.

In this episode, Esther shares what it was like to move to Moran, WY while in High School. She goes into her inspiration for starting Shacks on Racks and the process she goes through to find new homes. Stephan then shares his family’s story of how Shacks on Racks helped move their home to help out another community member. Esther and Stephan then talk about some of the other homes Shacks have helped relocate and some of the unexpected hurdles they have faced.

Episode 199 – Helping People with Disabilities Find Adventure featuring Joe Stone of Teton Adaptive

Joe Stone is an athlete, motivational speaker, filmmaker, and the Director of Mission at Teton Adaptive. Teton Adaptive’s mission is to promote, support, and develop outdoor sports and recreation opportunities for people with disabilities living in and visiting the Greater Teton Area.

In this chat, Joe shares the story of how a speed flying accident in 2010 changed the course of his life. The accident left Joe an incomplete C7 quadriplegic, meaning he is paralyzed from the chest down and has impairment in both his hands. Within a year of his accident, he overcame the challenges of being in a coma and rehabilitation to become the first quadriplegic to bike the Going-to-the-Sun-Road in Glacier. Joe then shares with Stephan another big first that you’ll have to listen to the episode to find out. Joe and Stephan then discuss the incredible work that Teton Adaptive is doing in our community.

Kyle Kissock is the Communications Manager for the Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation. Originally from Ohio, Kyle moved out west to work for the Teton Science school before finding his home at the Wildlife Foundation.

In this chat, Kyle and Stephan talk about all things wildlife. Not just the big ones like moose, bears, and elk, but the little creatures that make up our ecosystem. Kyle dives into some of the big projects that the Foundation is working on, such as modifying fences to make them friendlier to wildlife movement and some initiatives that help reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions. Stephan and Kyle also talk about some of the elusive wildlife in the Tetons such as the mountain lions and wolverines.

Episode 197 – Living a Happy Life in Jackson Hole with Hal Johnson

Hal Johnson is a father, long-time local, entrepreneur, horseshoer, ranch hand, and one of the first tram operators. Hal has called this valley his home for over 65 years. Born in Firth, ID, and raised in the Blackfoot area, he made his way to Wyoming as a teenager and landed in Jackson back in 1957.

In this episode, Hal shares with Stephan many stories of what it was like to live in work in Jackson over the years. He talks about owning a feedlot that was run out of business by Purina. Hal goes into detail about all the longtime locals he has worked for, how he became a part-owner of the rodeo and why he left Jackson for a brief period of time. He also talks about being a member of the Order of Odd Fellows and what they do for the community. Stephan and Hal then discuss the importance of finding your happiness and surrounding yourself with people who also share a passion for life.
